Checo takes the Checkered

Red Bull dominated the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix as Sergio Perez claimed victory and Max Verstappen finished second after starting in 15th position. Fernando Alonso briefly took the lead from Perez at the start but eventually finished third, despite being given a post-race penalty which was later reversed. Leclerc and Verstappen's progression was somewhat less than expected, with neither making significant passes beyond the first few cars. The race was punctuated by a series of pit stops and a safety car, but the Red Bulls were clearly the fastest on track with Perez and Verstappen lapping well ahead of the competition.

Alonso Scores (and re-scores) 100th Podium

Fernando Alonso has been reinstated to third place in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix following a successful review by Aston Martin. Alonso was originally penalized 10 seconds for failing to serve a previous penalty correctly, which had been awarded for being out of position at the start of the race. The penalty originally promoted George Russell to third place, but the review concluded that there was no clear agreement among teams that touching the car during a pit stop would constitute working on it, leading to Alonso's reinstatement. The decision means that Alonso achieved the 100th podium of his Formula 1 career.

7-Time World Champ has Lack of Confidence

Before the green dropped at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton has expressed a lack of confidence in his Mercedes car after being out-qualified by teammate George Russell. Hamilton started in seventh place, while Russell started third due to a grid penalty for Charles Leclerc. Russell is confident that he can continue fighting for podiums, while Hamilton says he can't extract the performance from the car and doesn't feel connected to it claiming that the car is a bit 'under-steery' and has an overall lack of downforce.

Logano's Last Lap Magic

Joey Logano won the NASCAR Cup race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, his first win of the season, by making a last-lap pass on Brad Keselowski to take the lead. Logano led for 140 of the 260 laps in the race, and held on to his lead after a big push from Christopher Bell. Logano was pleased with the win in Atlanta as he spent much of his youth racing Legends cars on the ¼-mile infield oval. Bell finished third, with Corey LaJoie in fourth and Tyler Reddick in fifth.

Hill Finds Victory Lane Again

Austin Hill won the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway after a record-breaking 12 cautions. Hill, driving the No. 21 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing, led for most of the race and held on to win despite Daniel Hemric bumping into Parker Kligerman, who then collided with Hill on the final lap. Hill wobbled but managed to keep his car on the track and win by 0.085 seconds. The victory is Hill’s third in five races this season and the fifth of his career. Ryan Truex came third, with Kligerman and Riley Herbst rounding out the top five.

Eckes Takes Home Career Win No. 2

Christian Eckes has won the NASCAR Truck Series race at the Atlanta, after surviving a race full of wrecks and a chaotic overtime. Eckes, who had to fight back from a speeding penalty that took him to the rear of the field, briefly lost the lead to Nick Sanchez, but reclaimed it after a caution for a multi-truck wreck on the last lap. The win is the first of the season for Eckes, who moved from ThorSport Racing to Bill McAnally Racing. The race featured 11 cautions, including seven in the final stage. Sanchez finished second, John Hunter Nemechek third, Bayley Currey fourth, and Matt DiBenedetto fifth.

Williams' Walkoff

NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Josh Williams is facing penalties after parking his car on the frontstretch of Atlanta Motor Speedway following a race-ending incident. Williams defied orders from race officials to go to the garage for "extending the caution" and then parked his car on the finish line before exiting the vehicle and walking across the infield and pit road. NASCAR Cup star Denny Hamlin came to Williams' defense, offering to pay his fine. Williams is likely to face penalties for walking on a hot track and failure to follow a NASCAR directive.

Guenther Joins the Booth at COTA

Haas F1 Team Principal, Guenther Steiner, will join the FOX Sports TV booth for the NASCAR Cup Series race at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) next weekend. This adds to the F1 presence as Jenson Button will make his NASCAR debut, and Kimi Raikkonen will make his second career Cup start. Former Cup champion Kurt Busch will also be joining the TV booth. Steiner has been the Haas F1 Team Principal since the team's debut in 2016.

Harvey Makes his Return in Texas

IndyCar driver Jack Harvey has been given medical clearance to compete in the second round of the NTT IndyCar Series season at the PPG 375 at Texas Motor Speedway after being involved in a multi-car incident at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Harvey, who drives for Rahal Letterman Lanigan, was evaluated for a sore right wrist and left forearm following the incident and had to miss a Monday test at Barber Motorsports Park. He will now return to action after passing his evaluation. Last year, Harvey also missed the Texas race due to a heavy shunt in practice.

Hunter-Reay Returns to Indy

Ryan Hunter-Reay, the 2014 Indianapolis 500 winner, has signed up with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing to pilot the No. 23 Chevy for the Indianapolis 500. Hunter-Reay will reunite with Stefan Wilson, driver of the No. 24 DRR Chevy, after they were teammates at Andretti Autosport in 2018 and 2021. Dreyer & Reinbold Racing has not won a race at the Indianapolis Speedway, making Hunter-Reay’s addition to the team a significant move. Hunter-Reay says the partnership presents a unique opportunity for him to return to his roots with smaller teams and take the fight to the bigger efforts.
