What If Motorsports Were In The Olympics?

Motorsports in the Olympics

Have you ever imagined your favorite motorsport stars racing for Olympic gold? With new Olympic categories like fast walking and break dancing (seriously?), it’s time to add a category that’s been missing for far too long—motorsports!

Motorsports in the Olympic Games could be ground-breaking. Picture Kyle Larson and Max Verstappen going head-to-head in the streets of Paris, or Scott Dixon battling Lewis Hamilton for a Gold Medal. The opportunities are endless.

Die-hard fans often debate who the best driver in the world is. With the Motorsports Olympic Games, we could finally have an answer. Here’s how it could go down:

Race Categories:

Oval Track Racing: High-speed action on an oval circuit. We’ve seen NASCAR races fit into stadiums (like the LA Coliseum). A short track race would be essential for the Olympics.

Rallycross: Mixed-surface races testing versatility and skill. Rallycross is popular globally. Imagine Travis Pastrana challenging Sébastien Loeb as he defends his home country in Paris.

Endurance Racing: Longer races testing stamina and strategy. With endurance legends like Jordan Taylor and Kamui Kobayashi in the mix, this category promises intense, strategic competition.

Street Course Racing: Tight, twisting city street races highlighting precision and control. Formula 1 champions like Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen would compete alongside IndyCar stars like Scott Dixon and Josef Newgarden.

Identical Cars for Fair Play: All races would use identical IROC-style spec cars to ensure fair competition based purely on driver skill.

Top Contenders by Country:

🇺🇸 USA: Strong in Oval Track and Street Course Racing with talents like Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, and Josef Newgarden.

🇬🇧 UK: Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris make the UK formidable in Street Course Racing.

🇳🇱 Netherlands: Max Verstappen (need we say more?).

🇳🇿 New Zealand: Scott Dixon and Shane van Gisbergen could dominate the street courses.

🇪🇸 Spain: Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz Jr. excel in endurance and street courses.

🇦🇺 Australia: Scott McLaughlin and Brodie Kostecki’s versatility shine.

🇯🇵 Japan: An all-star lineup with Kamui Kobayashi, Takuma Sato, and Yuki Tsunoda.

🇫🇷 France: Sébastien Loeb and Simon Pagenaud are strong contenders across all categories.

With such an array of talent and racing categories, the motorsports games could be an incredible addition to the Olympics. Obviously, this is just a fever dream as we gear up for the 2024 Olympic Games (And, sadly, a break from racing).
