Verstappen On Board with Ricciardo Reunion

“I never wanted him to leave” - Max Verstappen is keen on reuniting with former teammate Daniel Ricciardo at Red Bull if Ricciardo proves his mettle on his return to F1 at AlphaTauri. 🤝🚀 Ricciardo, who's had a rollercoaster career since leaving Red Bull, has been serving as a reserve driver for 2023. He's made a splash in recent simulator runs and a Pirelli tyre test at Silverstone, earning him a second shot. 🎯

Verstappen noted, "It’s great to have Daniel back on the grid... Now the opportunity’s here with Daniel again, he had his little reset, so I think he’s ready to go again."

But the driver swap is bittersweet as it means Nyck de Vries is out of his AlphaTauri seat. 😟 Verstappen, a friend of De Vries, is sure the ousted driver will find a new home soon.

"I know that he has a lot of opportunities," said Verstappen, proving again that in F1, every end could just be a new beginning. 🔄

Tightening Regulations: IndyCar Rolls Out New Retaining Nut

Following the dramatic incident at the Indianapolis 500, the NTT IndyCar Series 🏎️ has completed an investigation into Kyle Kirkwood's Andretti Autosport car crash. A left-rear wheel assembly failure caused a wheel to fly into the Turn 2 grandstands, but fortunately, no spectators were affected.

Now, a mandatory, series-wide component update is being implemented starting with the Hy-Vee doubleheader at Iowa Speedway 🚦 this weekend. “The parts and pieces from the 27 car were shipped to Dallara in Italy immediately after the race and they got right on this,” IndyCar president Jay Frye informed RACER.

The issue? An unprecedented failure of the wheel hub's large retaining nut led to the wheel assembly being ripped off Kirkwood's car. But not anymore, Dallara has designed a new nut, a whole 60% more robust than the previous one 🆕.

Frye stressed, "Safety is very important to IndyCar and this new retaining nut is a relatively simple and impactful change that we can make immediately based off what they learned.” Here's hoping for safer, faster races in the future. 🏁
