Otmar on the (Job) Hunt

Otmar Szafnauer is taking a breather, not a full stop, in the world of Formula 1. Just days after his shock exit from Alpine 👋, he's already in talks about a swift return, even amidst a 12-month gardening leave restriction. 🚫

Szafnauer told Speedcafe, “Twelve months means no Formula 1 teamwork, but there are other things in Formula 1 I can do. He's hinting at possible opportunities with engine manufacturers or F1 Experiences, keeping him in the F1 fold, just not in the pit. 🔧

Long term, he's not ruling out a return to the pit wall: “If a situation arises where I could be of help to a team... I would definitely take that opportunity.” 🏎️💨 After all, as he pointed out, that's what he knows best. 🧠✨

NHOF Announces Class of 2024

NASCAR's Hall of Fame Class of 2024 saw the induction of racing legends, but not without a bit of controversy. While seven-time Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson, his innovative crew chief Chad Knaus, 'Alabama Gang' legend Donnie Allison, and trailblazing racer Janet Guthrie all made the list, Johnson's less-than-unanimous 93% vote share raised eyebrows. 🤨

Alongside Johnson, Knaus (81% of the Modern Era ballot vote), Allison (53% of the Pioneer Era ballot vote), and Guthrie, recipient of the Landmark Award for outstanding contributions to NASCAR, were celebrated.🏆

Knaus expressed gratitude: "it's an honor to be here with Jimmie." Allison joined the ‘Alabama Gang’ in the Hall, and Guthrie's influence on women in motorsports was recognized.

The Class of 2024 Induction Ceremony will bring these legends together on Jan. 19, 2024, in Charlotte, N.C. 📆 But Johnson's voting percentage might just keep the conversation revving until then. 🧐

Nashville’s New Grand Finale

🎸🏁 Nashville's Big Machine Music City Grand Prix is now IndyCar's season finale from 2024, offering a three-day motorsport-music hybrid event. Mark Miles, CEO of Penske Entertainment, promises a global spectacle, saying, "Next year's race in Nashville will be an unbridled celebration of the most fierce and competitive motorsport on the planet."

The newly configured 2.17-mile course will still include the thrilling Korean Veterans War Memorial Bridge, and the Titans' new stadium plans won't change the high-speed layout. Jason Rittenberry, CEO of Big Machine Grand Prix, highlights this as "a not miss event" with the combination of racing, nightlife, and music. Nashville's growth continues with this massive sporting step. 🎶🏎️
