Good morning! Happy New Year and welcome back to the Money Lap! A lot has happened during our two week hiatus...

Some people are taking their new year’s resolutions seriously with a new year, new me approach as Sauber F1 gets a major rebrand and Sonoma has gotten a face lift.

For others, not much has changed… Red Bull has gotten so bored of winning that they decided to do a pit stop in the dark rather than prep for the upcoming season.

Dance in the Desert

The 46th annual Dakar Rally kicks off on January 5 in Saudi Arabia. 🇸🇦 This sand-swept spectacle boasts a grueling 7,891 km route with 12 special stages, plus an all-new twist—drivers will face a 48-hour marathon challenge. 🏃 Drivers will embark on a 584 km march through the desert starting at 7 am and hitting the brakes at 4 pm for two straight days. Rally director David Castera warns of a "very tough" first week. 😮‍💨

The race kicks off in Al-Ula, with a crucial 27 km Prologue setting the starting order. 🏁 Riyadh serves as a pit stop before the second week's whirlwind, featuring loops, long drives, and a coastal finish in Yanbu on January 19. 🌊 In this desert dance, 778 competitors vie for glory, from bikes and cars to trucks and quads. Get ready for this annual dune-busting spectacle!
