Bell Bests the Field at Bristol

Christopher Bell won the NASCAR Cup Series Dirt Race at the Bristol Motor Speedway, his first win of the season. Bell's team chose to stay on track during the pit session after the race's second stage, enabling him to control the race's final stage. Despite occasional pressure, he held off challengers after a late-race caution flag, winning the race under caution. The track surface caused difficulties for drivers as spins, slides, and multi-car crashes led to several caution flags. Pole winner Kyle Larson finished 35th after a late race run-in with Ryan Preece forced him to retire from the race with extensive damage.

Logano Dominates Caution Filled Truck Race at the Colosseum

Joey Logano won the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series' Weather Guard Truck Race on Dirt at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday night. Logano dominated the race, winning both stages and leading for 138 out of 150 laps. He finished 1.241 seconds ahead of his teammate Ty Majeski. The race was punctuated by 11 cautions for 64 laps, with trucks experiencing difficulties on the slick clay surface. Logano's victory was the second of his career in the Truck Series and second win at the dirt covered Bristol. Byron, Crafton and Enfinger rounded out the Top 5.

NASCAR Indefinitely Suspends Cody Ware

NASCAR Cup Series driver Cody Ware has been indefinitely suspended by NASCAR after being arrested and charged with felony assault by strangulation - inflict serious injury, and misdemeanor assault on a female. Ware missed Sunday's NASCAR Cup race at Bristol to focus on a personal matter.

Ware has nearly 100 starts in the Cup Series, with his only top-ten appearance coming when he finished sixth in the August Daytona race last year. He has driven for the team owned by his father since he made his Cup race debut in 2017, and currently sits 31st in the championship standings.

Sport Vs. Show

In a recent interview, Haas team principal Gunther Steiner has said that Formula 1 should not change its rules to reduce Red Bull's current advantage, as sporting integrity should always be a priority over the show. While Red Bull has dominated the three events held so far in 2023, Steiner expects the other teams to catch up, and changing the rules to slow Red Bull down would not be fair. He also expects the battle between the midfield teams around Haas to remain tight throughout the rest of the season.

โ€œThe sport is the main thing we have to have. The show is secondary, but I think it will sort itself out and then still we have got a good race going on in the front now with Checo and Max, that doesn't seem to be without sparks, without show."

Ferrari Requests Review of Sainz's Penalty

Ferrari has formally requested a right of review over the penalty given to Carlos Sainz during the Australian Grand Prix, according to team boss Frederic Vasseur. Sainz was handed a five-second penalty after tipping Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso into a spin, dropping him out of the points and down to 12th. Ferrari has sent a petition to the FIA with the hope of securing a right of review. Competitors can request a right of review within 14 days after a ruling from the stewards if "a significant and relevant new element is discovered which was unavailable to the parties seeking the review at the time of the decision concerned."

During a qualifying race, Owen lost control of his car and hit the outside wall, causing it to flip several times. USAC announced Owenโ€™s death shortly after midnight on Saturday and cancelled the remainder of the event.
