Kyle Larson is edging closer to the iconic Indianapolis 500, having aced the Rookie Orientation Program (ROP). Piloting the No. 6 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet, Larson completed all three phases, topping out at a speed of 217.898mph. ✅
"The speed and the grip didn't feel scarier than what I thought it might,” Larson expressed, noting the unexpected way the car pulled left and the lighter wheel compared to the simulator. The NASCAR champ is adapting and eyes the unique Memorial Day weekend “double” - the Indy 500 and Charlotte’s 600-mile race. 🏁
Tony Kanaan, Arrow McLaren’s sporting director, didn’t hold back his admiration. “He's one of the best race car drivers in the world right now,” Kanaan praised.
Despite a minor hiccup when Larson’s car appeared to stall, he confidently managed all ROP phases. “I look forward to kind of getting around cars, feeling how the dirty air affects things,” Larson remarked, echoing his eager anticipation for April’s open test. Every lap pulls the ace driver closer to the prestigious Indy 500 stage. 🏆🔥
Ecclestone’s Expensive Oversight
Former Formula 1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone pleads guilty to tax fraud and is set to pay a hefty $800 million. 🚨💰 This after a change of lane from a previous not guilty plea, connected to a non-disclosed Singaporean trust back in 2015. "That answer was untrue or misleading," quoted Prosecutor Richard Wright KC.
Ecclestone, 92, held a cool $650m in the trust. Now, he’s steering towards a settlement with HM Revenue and Customs. A 17-month prison sentence has been suspended for two years, letting Bernie avoid the jail circuit… for now. ⏱️🔓
“Mr Ecclestone recognizes it was wrong” to mislead HMRC, acknowledging the overdue tax attached to the high-octane financial maneuvers. As the dust settles, the racing icon is left to navigate the costly aftermath.
